After Market Order

How can someone place AMO?

  • Customers can now place After Market Orders even after trading hours. It is easy to place AMOs and there are two options:
    • After Market Orders may be placed by the customer at the following times: 4.15 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.
      10.30 p.m. - 7.30 a.m.
      8.30 a.m. - 9.00 a.m.

An AMO can only be placed with a price range of +/-10% from the closing price at midnight on the last day. An AMO for Scrip beyond this price range would be rejected.

All AMO orders placed on the market will be in accordance with the price bands. Market orders will be placed first, and all orders based on price band orders in ascending order.

In the event of insufficient margins at the start of the day margin calculation process, any AMO order can be cancelled before it is placed on the exchange. To check the status of an AMO order, clients should consult the order report during market hours.

Limit orders, which are placed at a price more or less close to the closing price of the previous day, are recommended. Market orders can be executed at the highest possible counter rate.

eg. Reliance Industries closed price on October 10, 2005 was Rs.785.72

If an market order in AMO is taken place to purchase 100 shs price of reliance, at 0 rate, and the first trade to hit on 11/11/2005 is Rs 825/00, then the buy order will be executed at Rs. 825/-, which would be a very expensive buy.
