The National Anti-Profiteering Authority is responsible for determining whether or not the input tax credit or the reduction in tax rate have actually led to a proportionate decrease in the price of goods and services, or both. The NAA can identify the registered person that has not passed on the tax rate reduction or input credit through a commensurate price reduction. It may order a reduction in prices, return to the recipient an amount equal to the amount not passed along with interest, cancellation of supplier registration and imposition of a penalty. The NAA can order the supplier to deposit money in the Consumer Welfare Fund if the recipient is not identified or has not claimed the amount back.
