Do minors need to apply for the PAN card to open a bank account?

It is not required that a minor apply for a PAN Card to open a bank account.

Procedure to open a Bank Account in India for a Minor:

• The parent or guardian will need to fill out a regular Account Opening Form. The Minor is the first holder, and the Parent/Guardian is the Joint Holder.

• Fill in the appropriate section or complete Form 60 to provide the PAN information of the Parent/Guardian

• For account operations, the signature of the Parent/Guardian will be required.

• While the Parent/Guardians photo is mandatory, depending on the Bank, the Minor's picture may or not be required.
