Stock Market Basics FAQs

How stockholder & stakeholder can be differentiated?

Stockholder (Shareholder) vs. Stakeholder

  • While a shareholder is always considered a stakeholder, a stakeholder may not be the shareholder of a company.
  • Shareholders have at least one stock and an interest in stock performance. Stakeholders, on the other hand, have an interest in the company’s performance.
  • An individual, an organization, or a company can be a shareholder. Employees, suppliers, owners, vendors, customers, or bondholders can all be stakeholders.
  • Shareholders can sell or buy stocks frequently depending on their needs. However, stakeholders are more concerned about the long-term performance and need of the company.
